The exacta is one of the most popular bets at the horse races for a very good reason. You only have to pick two horses and if you box them they can come in either way. Whichever horse wins, as long as your other horse is second, you win the exacta. The problem, of course, is to zero in on two horses that have a very good chance of being the exacta. The favorite in the race, the one with the most money bet on it and consequently the lowest odds, is either first or second about half the time. It’s actually more likely to win, especially if the odds are very low.
