A main law in racing is: in an ‘un-manipulated race’ no one knows who’ll come in the win, place, show, forth and fifth positions. An un-manipulated race simply means no fixing of the race with illegally drugged horses, jockeys told purposely to slow down a winning horse to raise its odds for its next race and so on. Un-manipulated races are very few indeed and in between. What does it take or picking horses – what does it depend on? Picking horses depend on doing six things well. This is done with the six things that make up racing which are: a horse, a jockey, a track, a trainer, a player and a pari-mutuel wagering system. Each one is complex and takes study.
