An Enduring Ride
The most challenging and grueling equestrian competition is the endurance horse race. An endurance race can range from 25 to 150 miles and weaves through a maze of various terrains. In many cases, these are one-day events; however there are some endurance races that last for multiple days as well. For riders and horses new to endurance racing, shorter rides termed Limited Distance Competition are arranged. Similar to a marathon where runners aim to top their person best time, it is the same with endurance races. The riders target to surpass their horse’s personal best time but also want the horse to be “fit to continue” at the end of the race.
