Becoming an Olympic Rider

The path to becoming an Olympic Rider for equestrian events is long and requires considerable determination. Let’s start at the beginning. Actually, many young riders begin by involvement with the Pony Club, 4-H or other local riding organizations. As a rider grows older, they may enter competitions such as local schooling shows or open show circuits. It is likely that they will be a part of a high school then college team. The organization of circuits in one or more discipline will depend on the official organization in each locality such as state or province. However one thing is of absolute certainty, a reputable coach is a must to prepare you for and guide you through these competitions.

2013 Eclipse Award Winners

Triple Crown Trail – Road to the Kentucky Derby

This year there are 34 stakes races, including 16 races over a 10-week period to be known as the Kentucky Derby Championship Series. 2014 Road to the Kentucky Derby Points List

The point system replaced the old graded stakes earning method of determining which horses can get in the Kentucky Derby when entries are taken last year.
