Horse Racing Longshots and Favorites and Betting Angles That Work

Can you make more money betting on longshots or is it better to bet favorites? The favorite is the public’s choice for a reason. It is also known as the chalk and has more money wagered on it than any other runner because it looks the best on paper. It may also look the best in the paddock. Statistically, if you look at the average for all races, the chalk wins about a third of the time. Just betting the chalk does not return a profit over the long run, though there are days when it does show a profit.
