How to Be Lucky At The Horse Races

Here are a few horse racing tips related to luck based on my years of experience, both the good and bad. First of all, no one can control luck. Like lightning and athletes foot, it just happens. So don’t get too caught up in the game of trying to make luck happen, but do spend time trying to figure out when it will happen. It seems to come in cycles. I’ve often found that a really lucky day at the races is followed by a losing day.

The First Step in Horse Racing Handicapping and Finding Winning Bets

Horse racing handicapping is broken down into steps based on the factors of evaluating a horse and then comparing each runner in a race to the competition. There are many ways to go about it, but one thing is certain, the better you become at making those comparisons the easier it will be to make a profit betting on horses. Easier, but not easy, that is, because making a profit betting on horses is not easy. Not only do you have to make the comparisons I’ve just mentioned, but you also have to use that information, the disparity in ability and form between the runners, to find a good bet.

2012 Sovereign Award Finalists

The Jockey Club of Canada has announced the finalists for the equine and human categories for the 2012 Sovereign Awards for excellence in Canadian thoroughbred racing. Media finalists will not be announced until mid-February. These awards determine the year-end champions for Canada like the Eclipse awards do for the US. Check out all the finalists here.

2012 Eclipse Award Winners

horse racingWise Dan was named Horse of the Year at the 2012 Eclipse Award ceremony on Saturday night, as well as Champion Older Male and Turf Male, the first to get all three since John Henry in 1981.
