There are no guarantees in horse racing so it becomes a matter of percentages and probability when you’re trying to make a profit betting on horse races. It takes practice, patience, and discipline to finally reach the point where you can handicap a whole program and find enough good wagers to walk out of a race track or OTB parlor with a profit. If you’re trying to pick winners by handicapping harness races then one spot play you should look for is the horse that has made a significant middle move in one of its most recent races. Making a brush, as the horse’s burst of speed is called, between calls during the race is one way a horse shows it has speed and also is rounding into form.

This is Australia’s second biggest horse race and the prize for 2011 was 3 million. This race attracts many elite racers who seek not only the prize but also the satisfaction of winning this tough race. This race is the only one from the Southern hemisphere that is included in the premier World Series Racing Championship and it drives some international competitors to join the race.

Favorite Violence ran down pacesetter Fury Capcori to win by 1 1/4 lengths in the Cash Call Futurity (G1) on Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park. Also on the card, Grandeur won the Hollywood Turf Cup (G2) over Interaction and Optimizer. Get the results, charts, and photos here.

Heathcote led wire-to-wire to win the 2012 Valedictory Stakes by 12 1/2 lengths on closing day at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto.
